An elderly man has been rushed to hospital after a four-car crash injured ten people.
The incident happened on the eastbound carriageway between Galleys Corner roundabout and Marks Farm roundabout at around 10.40am.
The elderly driver was taken to Broomfield Hospital as a precaution.
He driven by land ambulance after three ambulances and the Essex Air Ambulance were called to the scene.
The crash partially blocked the carriageway and took two hours to clear.
Kate Bennett, a duty officer at the scene, said: "We attended what appeared to be a four-vehicle collision, and assessed ten patients with minor injuries.
"One elderly man, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, was taken to Broomfield Hospital as a precaution, but with no obvious injury.
"Another woman suffered facial cuts but was not taken to hospital."
