A Braintree woman has organised a group which raised more than £500 to help fight cancer.
Ellen Colebourne, 39, of Megs Way, Braintree, organised the group of 11 ladies from Persimmon Homes Essex to take part in the Race for Life in Chelmsford.
The group raised £520 for Cancer Research UK.
Ellen Colebourne, sales administrator at Persimmon Homes Essex, said: “Women from throughout the company took part, including people from the sales, legal and customer service departments.
“Most of us have been affected by cancer one way or the other so it was good to be out there raising money for Cancer Research UK.
“Some of us meet up and go out running on a Tuesday night, so we did the 10km, while some of the less frequent runners went for 5km and managed some really good times.”
The Race for Life took place in the town’s Hylands Park, starting and finishing on the grass area behind Flint Cottage.
It was hoped that the event would raise almost £300,000 in total.
The run has been a fixture on Chelmsford’s calendar for 17 years, with women of all ages and abilities taking part.
