Nimble-fingered Doreen Davies continues to play Mozart and Beethoven on the piano at a staggering 100 years old.
The great-grandmother-of-eight is the first resident at Whitehall Court, off Newland Street, Witham, to celebrate the centenary milestone and residents turned out in force for a special birthday celebration in the garden today.
Mrs Davies, who has lived in Witham for the last 13 years, was thrilled to receive a birthday card from the Queen and to see her four children, Alan, Ronald, Christine and Gareth, come from all across the UK to visit her.
See Thursday's Braintree and Witham Times for the full story.
