A brave teenager has raised hundreds of pounds for charity in memory of her dad, who died from a severe lung disease aged just 55.

Fleur Denne, 16, organised a nine-mile sponsored walk after her dad Paul died in November after suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for 10 years.

The disease meant he used an oxygen machine during the night, was often coughing and wheezing and stopped him working.

His death shocked the family after he seemed fine but one day took a sudden turn for the worst.

Fleur, who has just left Witham’s Maltings Academy, was encouraged by her school tutor to turn to volunteering or charity work after she found herself struggling with coming to terms with her dad’s death.
