Police officers as well as representatives from emergency services were on hand in Braintree to offer crime prevention advice during a community safety day.

The crime prevention day in Braintree, which involved partners from the Essex Fire and Rescue Service, St. John Ambulance, Braintree District Council and Safer Places took place on Wednesday.

Police officers were in Braintree Library, Natwest bank, Tesco and Sainsbury’s to hand out advice on fraud prevention, identity theft, and how to spot counterfeit notes.

Public services students from The College at Braintree helped promote the the Essex Community Messaging (ECM) service.

Sergeant Martin Richards of Braintree Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Being part of this event allows us to engage shoppers and inform them on a wide range of crime prevention topics, as well as advising them on keeping their homes and property secure.

“Events like these are a great way for shoppers to receive trusted advice from several organisations to help them stay safe.”
