Fresh calls have been made to improve an accident blackspot in Braintree following a crash which caused 12 miles of traffic jams.

Motorists suffered traffic chaos as cars queued as far back as Felsted after a blue Vauxhall Insignia and a white Mercedes lorry collided near Galleys Corner roundabout at about 3pm on Friday.

Three ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were called to the collision on the A120 eastbound and treated two people, including a man in his 40s, for neck and back pain.

Cressing councillor James Abbott, whose ward covers Galleys Corner following boundary changes, has written to Andy Jobling, Highways Agency assett manager, to ask if the organisation will implement safety measures on the A120 to slow traffic down approaching the roundabout.
