The sister of a man missing since Monday has appealed for help in searching for him. 

Chris May, 28, left his home in St Mary's Road, Kelvedon, at around 9.45am on Monday and has not been in contact with friends or family since.

Mr May sent a text to a friend in Kelvedon on Monday morning to say he was going to Braintree but his phone was later switched off from 11.50am.

He drives a silver Volkswagen Golf with the registration number Y887 AAB.

His sister Kelly May, 24, said the disappearance was out of character.

She said: "I just want to know he is safe.

"That is all we care about - that he is safe and not hurt."

Mr May has distinctive sleeve tattoos which feature angels on one arm and skulls on the other.

Essex Police have been informed of his disappearance.

A spokesman said: "Police are currently searching for a 28-year-old man reported missing from his home in Kelvedon.

"He was last seen in Kelvedon on Monday, May 25, at around 9.45am and was reported as missing by his family today."

- A search party of Mr May's friends will meet at the Co-op in Kelvedon High Street at 6pm and anyone is welcome to help.

UPDATE - 5.30pm, May 28

POLICE appealed for the public's help in finding Chris May.

A spokesman said: "Christopher May, aged 28, was reported missing from his home in Mount Road by his family.

"He has not been seen since 9.45am on Monday, May 25, and police are concerned for his welfare.

"Chris is described as white, about 6ft tall, of medium build and has short, fair hair.

"He has tattoos on his arms.

"Anybody with any information as to where he may be is asked to contact Essex Police on 101."

Chris also stayed at an address in St Mary's Road in Kelvedon.

Chris's family have made a heartfelt plea for him to get in touch.

This afternoon, Saturday May 30, his mother Lorraine May and eldest sister Charlene both urged Chris to get in touch.

Lorraine said: “Chris is a loving, family person and is really close to his brother Daniel and three sisters, Charlene, Gemma and Kelly.

“We are a really close family unit and his disappearance is tearing us apart. We are devastated.

“We had no idea that something was wrong until one of his friends said he had not heard from him that day."
