A cycling festival will be held in a Braintree park to celebrate the visit of the Aviva Women’s Tour.
Pedal in the Park will take place in Weaver’s Park on June 20, and will feature a host of sporting activities for families.
Freestyle mountain bike display team Savage Skills will be on hand to wow audiences with impressive tricks, jumps and stunts. The event will also feature the Rollapaluza machine, from ITV’s The Cycle Show, and Indoor Revolution sprint bike screens.
For younger cyclists, Radical Bikes will be offering handling workshops and there will be bikes without pedals.
There will also be falconry displays, a bouncy castle and climbing wall, a football skills cage, street golf and short tennis, and target practice with Braintree Bowmen Archery Club.
Jo Beavis, cabinet member for health and communities, said: “It makes me proud to know that we can host world famous elite sporting events here, but when all is said and done the real benefits come from inspiring people of all ages and abilities to get involved.”
Stage Two of the Aviva Women’s Tour will begin in Braintree High Street on June 18.
