A TEENAGER has pleaded guilty to the murder of Chelmsford lad Ashley Woolley.
The plea was a late change from the teen, who for the first time can be named as 18-year-old Steven Davenport, of Hillside Grove, Chelmsford.
Ashley, 18, was found stabbed in Oaklands Park in the city on December 18. He died later that day in Broomfield Hospital.
Hundreds gathered to pay tribute to the Chelmsford College student at his funeral at Chelmsford Cathedral in January.
Wearing a white shirt and black tie, Davenport spoke only to give his guilty plea infront of a packed court room.
Davenport was 17 at the time he was charged, meaning his name couldn’t be published.
He will be sentenced in July.
