Simon Cowell and the Britain’s Got Talent Judges tucked into a Witham baker’s cake on prime-time television.

Robin Brown, who runs Rockin’ Robin Cakes in Calamint Road, expertly decorated the Union flag cake with handmade icing models of Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams, Stephen Mulhern, Ant and Dec.

Stephen Mulhern presented Robin’s masterpiece to the judges - who snapped pictures on their phones and gathered around it for a group photo - to mark the end of the show’s auditions on Saturday.

But as Simon pulled his icing double from the cake, one of the legs fell off - something father-of-two Robin will always remember.

He said: "It was great - Simon picked it up and just said, ‘the leg’s fell off.’

"My name came up in the credits and everything and my family were all cheering at home when we were watching it on the TV."

The three-teir creation included a classic Victoria sponge, a coffee-flavoured sponge and a chocolate layer.

He said: "It was one of my favourite cakes but I love making cakes for anyone.

"To see Amanda and Alesha taking pictures of it and to see Simon actually eating the cake was just great - I am definitely proud."

Robin’s next celebrity bake is for former X Factor contestant Christopher Maloney to celebrate the first anniversary of opening his own theatre and arts academy.
