A community hero whose home was targeted by burglars as he slept has had his faith in humanity restored after strangers offered to replace his stolen possessions.
Burglars unlocked the back door of Brian Wilmer’s Witham home by reaching through the catflap, before stealing his two £400 prized cameras.
Mr Wilmer, 70, an amateur photographer whose photographs are currently on exhibition at Witham Town Hall, noticed his Pansonic Lumix cameras were missing when he went downstairs at about 4am.
