Four doctor’s surgeries in Witham will be affected by an influx of 750 houses, the NHS has warned.

Fern House Surgery, Douglas Grove Surgery, Collingwood Road Surgery and Witham Health Centre, all based in the town, will need expanding if an application to build the housing estate on arable lane next to Lodge Farm, off Hatfield Road, is given the go-ahead.

NHS England has estimated that £246,880 will have to be spent on extra space at all four surgeries to accommodate the 1,800 new residents expected to come from the development.

All the surgeries are over-subscribed but Douglas Grove Surgery and Fern House Surgery have particularly high amount of patients.
