A piece of Braintree’s history with links to the Prodigy and a notorious murder will go up for auction next week.
For 25 years, Daisey Crossman has owned the sign that used to signpost the former Essex Barn nightclub, in Rayne Road, Braintree - one of the most popular nightspots in the county until it was pulled down in 1990.
It was the venue where Braintree-born Liam Howlett and his friends used to meet, forming the Prodigy at the turn of the 90s.
In November 1972, it was also the scene of a horrific shooting of a mother in front of her husband and daughter.
Muriel Patience was shot dead by robbers at her home opposite the car park of the Barn.
See this week's Braintree and Witham Times for the full story.
