Two friendly faces will no longer greet commuters after a train station office clerk and his adopted cat moved on to pastures new.
Earlier this month, Wayne Claydon, who worked at Braintree station for 34 years, stood down from his spot behind the counter issuing tickets to travellers.
He acquired an unusual assistant in Colin the stray cat five years ago, after the friendly animal popped into the station to snuggle with waiting passengers and nibble on cat treats.
Colin has won the hearts of commuters ever since.
Wayne even came to work on days off to feed his feline friend and let him into the waiting room when the
weather got chilly.
But now Wayne has moved on, Colin has found a new owner in Denise Humphries who has also taken
up Wayne’s previous role at the station office.
The black and white moggy was taken to RSPCA Danaher Animal Home in Wethersfield for a full check up before going home with Denise next week.
