Primary school pupils enjoyed a day of spring-filled fun as they learnt more about season’s changes to nature.

The majority of classes at Notley Green Primary School, in Blickling Road, Great Notley, were spent outside during a specially-organised ‘spring day’ on Thursday.

The children particularly enjoyed visiting the ducklings in a village pond, inspecting how many leaves grew on daisies and looking into how blossom appeared on trees.

Pupils applied their maths knowledge to figure out the height of trees and others wrote poems about what they could see on a beautiful spring day.

Head of school Claire Russell, who organised the event, said: “They have all had a fantastic day.

“It is an enrichment day that we do in spring and autumn and it gives the children an opportunity to engage with nature.

“It is something slightly different that piques their interest.

“They really enjoyed going up to the pond and all the ducks came to see them because they thought we were giving them food. Lots of them had little baby chicks.

“Many children have created artwork and lots of them have written poems. It’s been a really fun day.”
