A dedicated man has raised more than £2,000 for charity.
Matthew Hitchin, 37, organised a quiz to help his fundraising efforts ahead of his London Marathon run last Sunday.
Mr Hitchin, of Rayne, is running his first marathon for the World Cancer Research Fund after his dad, George, 66, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year.
He held a quiz last Saturday at Rayne Village Hall which raised £697 on top of his other fundraising.
He was also sponsored by Kings Financial in Braintree, who gave him £400.
He said he was really pleased with all the support he has received.
“I was really pleased with how many people turned up to my quiz,” he continued.
“It raised more than I was expecting and it was a great night.
“I am also grateful to Stephen King for his support and I have now raised more than the £2000 I pledged to raise for the charity.
“But I'm still going to try and raise more.”
