A care home at the centre of an alleged abuse scandal has unveiled a new look and name since it was featured in BBC’s Panorama about a year ago.

Managers at the Old Deanery care home, in Deanery Hill, Bocking, invited the Times to look around the new-look home and speak to residents and families this morning.

The care home, which has been officially renamed as the New Deanery this month, has been shrouded in controversy over the last year after three carers were arrested following an investigation by the TV programme.

Anita Ray, 46, Adeshola Adediwura, 32, and Lorna Clark, 44, all from Braintree, denied abusing a vulnerable woman and will face a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court on June 16.

Sonnet Care Homes, which bought the home in November 2013, has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds in a programme to overhaul care, equipment, facilities, decor and staff training.
