A newlywed couple are delighted after forcing a company to back down.

Mike and Phillippa James were told they would get no refund on a £4,000 dream honeymoon after the bride fell and dislocated her wrist on her wedding day.

They were distraught but thanks to a campaign on social media and in The Times, holiday operator Thomson has made a dramatic U-turn.

A Thomson spokesman said: “Thomson is sorry to hear that Mr and Mrs James were unable to take their honeymoon as planned.

“Our customer services team have been in direct contact with Mr James to discuss reorganising a holiday and have resolved the matter with him.

“We always highlight the importance of taking out travel insurance, as well as providing an opportunity to purchase this upon booking, to ensure customers are protected should unforeseen circumstances occur.”
