Generous school pupils handed £250 to a children’s ward from their annual Christmas fundraiser.

Ellie James, Jessica Collins and Charly Sopowski from Silver End Primary School visited Broomfield Hospital’s Phoenix Ward last Wednesday to donate the sum with head, Stewart Caplen.

Residents of Silver End who dug deep for the school’s annual Santa Patrol in December, when Santa and a DJ from Meridian Roadshows rode round the streets in a sleigh.

The Silver End scouts also took part in the patrol and will donate a separate sum to charity.

Stewart Caplen, executive headteacher at Silver End and Cressing Primary Schools, said: "The children were great ambassadors for the school.

"I am really proud of the efforts of the Silver End community, the Friends of Silver End School and the children who are helping those who need it most."
