A supermarket chain will have to wait until June to find out if it can build a new store in Braintree.

Sainsbury’s is waiting for the outcome of its appeal over the council’s decision to refuse planning permission for a store on the Broomhills Industrial Estate.

The nine-day inquiry was completed in January by the Planning Inspectorate.

A Planning Inspectorate spokesman said the matter has now been passed to local government minister Eric Pickles and a decision is expected after May’s General Election, but before June 25.
