Brainboxes are among the cleverest in the country.
Felsted Preparatory School was placed ninth in the Year Seven and Eight General Knowledge National Inter-School Quiz Championship.
It is organised by Quiz Club and more than 400,000 children take part in its three different age group championships.
Pupils had to answer multiple choice general knowledge questions covering subjects such as history, geography, maths, science, art, music, literacy, spelling and current affairs.
The team members included James Perkins, 12, from Braintree, Daniel Sanchez O’Brien, 11, and David Townsend, age 13, both from Felsted, and Ben Lowry, 11, from Little Dunmow.
