Developers have increased their plans to build an estate on a farmer’s field in a village by 100 homes.

This week, Gladman Developments submitted new plans for 350 homes off Western Road, in Silver End, just months after applying for a screening opinion for 250.

The new screening opinion also states that some land on the field, which will be for a new primary school and sports pitches, will be dealt with in a separate planning application.

James Abbott, district councillor for Silver End, described the plans as a “recipe for chaos”.

More than 40 angry residents objected to the original application made in December.
