One person had to be cut from a car after a three-vehicle crash in Stisted.
The incident happened at about midday in King's Lane and is said to have involved a van and two cars.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called at 12.30pm and had released the trapped person by 1.50pm.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We treated two patients - one for chest and leg pain and one suffering from spinal pain.
"Both were sent to Broomfield Hospital for further care."
