A partnership supported by Braintree Council is concerned that improvements to the A120 could get overlooked as the Government pledges investment into the A12.

It was announced this week that an extra lane will be added to the A12 between Chelmsford and Colchester as part of a £15billion investment into the nation’s roads.

Bosses at the Haven Gateway Partnership, which has campaigned for investment into the A120, which joins the A12, said it welcomed the announcement but was concerned about the impact it would have on their campaign.

Director Steve Clarke said: “We are delighted that the A12 has at last got the attention it deserves, everyone knows it is a major problem.

“When we looked at the Highways Agency route strategy, you could see that the A12 was going to get that attention but our concern is that the A120 will get overlooked."
