There are plenty of events taking place to get you feeling festive.

The third annual Dickensian Event and Christmas market is on Saturday from 10am until 3pm in Newlands Shopping Centre, Witham.

This event has been a great success over the past two years and organisers are very pleased to bring it back again this year.

The event aims to raise awareness and funds for local organisations as well as offer entertainment and special shopping opportunities for children and adults alike.

There are many different types of stalls where you can do your Christmas shopping or buy something for yourself.

There are also food stalls serving sweets, mulled wine, stollen, candy floss, roasted chestnuts and much more.

Witham Town Mayor Janet Money will open the event at 10am, and Witham MP Priti Patel will also by judging stalls.

Entertainment includes the Salvation Army Brass Band, panto characters, Father Christmas, the Lioness Lion, Zumba exhibition, Johnny Mack, face painting, the Witham Big and Little Sing and more.

The Warner Textile Archive, in Silks Way, is hosting a Christmas Shopping Evening on Thursday from 5pm until 8pm.

Entry is free, with mulled wine and a mince pie on arrival.

The Warner Textile Archive’s Christmas Gift Shop, with its hand-finished decorations and unique stocking fillers, is open on Wednesday 10am to 4pm.

Next Thursday, the Bocking United Services Club, in Church Street, is holding a Christmas shopping evening from 6.15pm.

There will be about 30 stalls and entry is free.

There will be a raffle and a tombola, with funds raised going to Essex Air Ambulance.
