The National Lottery has pumped more than £14million into good causes in our district since the first ever draw in 1994.

More than 520 projects, including Braintree Public Gardens, Home Start charity in Witham and Braintree Emergency Night Shelter, have benefitted from cash grants.

Braintree District Museum received £1.9million for its archive project, which is the biggest lottery grant ever given in the district.

And what about the nail-biting wait for four, five and six to appear?

Maybe you were one of the 3,600 instant millionaires that have hit the jackpot since the first draw 20 years ago.

But if you weren’t, there’s always hope. We’ve been talking to shoppers in Braintree and Witham to see what they would do if they struck gold and if winning millions would actually make them happy.
