Pupils and staff at a special needs school have been praised by Ofsted inspectors.

Inspectors visited Edith Borthwick School, in Church Street, Bocking, which caters for youngsters with learning disabilities aged three to 19, on September 18 and 19.

The school’s leadership and management, behaviour and safety of pupils, quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and provision of early years and sixth form were all graded as good.

The report, which was published last week, stated that inspectors were impressed by the pupil’s behaviour after there had been no permanent exclusions for many years.

It added: “Pupils respond positively to the consistently good management of their behaviour by staff, who use the system of rewards and sanctions well and provide excellent role models for good behaviour."
