A shopkeeper's politician daughter has been given an award by the organisation representing newsagents.
Witham MP Priti Patel was awarded the Fellowship Award by the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) for her campaigns and work supporting independents and convenience shops.
Her parents ran shops, including newsagents.
She chaired the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group until her appointment as Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury in July.
