A Witham fire crew was sent to a hotel after small part of a ceiling collapsed after being damaged by rainwater.
Crews were called to the Rivenhall Hotel, Rivenhall End, Witham, at 7.42am.
A 3ft by 3ft section of ceiling had collapsed because a blocked drain on the roof had caused water to pool on the roof, damaging it.
The collapse caused problems with the hotel electrics.
Firefighters isolated the electrics and pumped water from the blocked drain, finishing by 7.58am.
The hotel remains open for business as usual.
