Fire crews have been busy since 6.30am after receiving dozens of calls to floods in the Witham area.
Crews were called to the Rivenhall Hotel, Rivenhall End, Witham after the roof collapsed under the weight ofrain water.
They pumped water from the drain and made the area safe.
They have also pumped water from houses in Lyme Close, Witham.
The A12 has also been affected by flooding and is subject to rolling road blocks.
Floods have hit Tabor Avenue, Braintree and Flora Road, Witham, causing medium length delays.
