A new artisan market is in jeopardy unless agreement can be reached with bus companies.
Organisers hoped to bring up to 100 stalls to Newland Street in Witham for trial dates next month, November and December.
But they have had to scrap the first date, on October 3, because a bus company has opposed the closure of the road.
It has suggested running buses as normal through Newland Street but market organisers say this could be dangerous.
