A dad-of-two who had acid thrown at him in a random attack is considering plastic surgery as he can’t bear to look at himself in the mirror.

Wayne Ingold, 56, received life-changing injuries to his face, neck, arms and hands after he was attacked as he went to collect his post last month.

He saw a man kicking the door of the communal entrance in Bramble Road, Witham, and, as Mr Ingold opened it, a second man sprayed him with acid from a sports bottle.

Mr Ingold said he continued to be sprayed with the liquid, which hit the back of his neck, as he turned and ran back to his flat.

Now Mr Ingold, who worked as a wedding photographer, is having weekly appointments at Broomfield Hospital for painful treatment on his scars and is even considering corrective surgery.

He said: “My skin is extremely tight and I have to moisturise it three times a day, but it is very painful.

“The hospital team have done a fantastic job and it is healing very well - I can’t fault the doctors at all."
