Parish councillors are hoping a former factory site will be used for a care home rather than houses.
A planning application has been submitted to build 38 homes at the former Rockways factory site off Station Road in Sible Hedingham, next to the Premdor site where almost 200 houses are currently being built.
Nearby residents and the parish council have objected to the application over concerns about the impact on the roads, infrastructure and the amount of houses there compared to employment and health care facilities.
Gill Massey, chairman of Sible Hedingham Parish Council, said: “We are already getting 200 new families into the village, where are they going to work?"
