Plans to increase the number of passengers using Stansted airport could create up 10,000 new jobs over the next decade.
The airport aims to double passenger numbers to 45 million a year by introducing new routes and handling more flights from its single runway.
London Stansted managing director Andrew Harrison said: “Our plan shows how we could operate within the agreed air quality and noise limits of our current planning permissions while at the same time making more effective use of existing capacity."
Braintree Council leader Graham Butland said: “Stansted Airport is the largest employer in the district and if there are going to be an extra number of jobs over the years I would hope that a number of them go to people living in the district."
The airport will hold a public exhibition at Braintree Town Hall on Tuesday, September 23 from 3-8pm.
