Travel through the ages as you explore different location throughout Braintree and Bocking.

Braintree is steeped in history, from the Celtics of the 5th century to the Courtauld family in the mid 19th Century, but reminders of the town’s interesting past can be hard to spot.

Therefore the Braintree and Bocking Civic Society, a group dedicated to protecting and stimulating public interest in historically significant buildings, has compiled a Braintree Town Trail which details significant buildings from Braintree’s past.

Find Braintree’s oldest pub, examine the house once home to Dr Samuel Dale and hunt for blue plaques along the route which takes in 15 houses and buildings in this free tour.

Maps with information about the tour as well as further information are available from the Braintree and Witham Times’ office in the High Street, Braintree Museum, Library and Causeway House.
