Organisers are hoping for a record breaking day at the fourth Essex Dog Day.

Once again this popular fun dog day for dog owners, enthusiasts or just families looking for a great day out will be held in the beautiful grounds of Crix, Hatfield Peverel, a privately owned Georgian house.

The first three Essex Dog Days have each attracted many thousands of visitors to the competitions, demonstrations and entertainments and were extremely successful, raising a whopping £150,000 for charity.

Visitors are also encouraged to take part in an attempt to break the world record for the most dogs wearing a bandana. The record is 200 dogs and it was set by the Humane Society of Harford County, Maryland, U.S.A in October 2013. Essex Dog Day’s attempt to break the record is to raise awareness and funds for Essex based Safer Places a charity dedicated to supporting adults and children affected by domestic abuse.

There will also be sheepdog displays by David Seamark, falconry displays by Jemima Parry Jones and Frank Walker of The Essex Gun Dog School will also be performing.

The huge variety in classes for dogs - including puppies, waggiest tail, best six legs and best pedigree - means there will be something for everyone to take part in.

All proceeds are going to The Essex Community Fund which does such fantastic work in supporting so many needy and worthwhile local charities.

Parking for the event, which is tomorrow from 10am, is free but entrance is £7 for adults, £5 for concessions and a family ticket for two adults and two children is £18.
