A solar energy firm hopes to build a solar farm near Stebbing.

Lightsource Renewable Energy is inviting residents to see its plans for land at Tooleys Farm, off Brookend Road.

The solar farm would provide enough energy to power more than 1,600 homes.

An information evening will be held on Wednesday from 5.30pm to 8pm at Foakes Memorial Hall in Stortford Road, Dunmow.

Lightsource said the site has "strong natural screening from dense woodland and hedgerow around the boundaries" and the panels, which would reach a maximum height of 2.2m, would be hidden from view from surrounding roads, homes and footpaths.

Conor McGuigan, planning and development director, said: “As well as being a source of clean electricity, the Tooleys Farm site would also accommodate the grazing of sheep and could also provide a real boost to local biodiversity.”
