A teenager who spent nine months in a secure adolescent psychiatric unit is celebrating rebuilding her life a year on.
Alice White, 18, has a borderline personality disorder and a history of self harming.
Alice, of Ferndown Way, Hatfield Peverel, said: “On September 16 I will officially be celebrating my one year anniversary of discharge from the St Aubyn centre, which is a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services unit in Colchester.
“In a year, I have got myself living back at home in a normal routine, I have returned to education, I’ve found a boyfriend, Brendan, whom I adore and I’m learning to drive."
She will be taking part in Tough Mudder, a ten to 12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces, in October to raise money for Mind.
