A mother has spoken of her shock after seeing her neighbour’s house struck by lightning.
Last Thursday, three fire engines attended the detached house in Witham Road, Wickham Bishops, after it was struck by lightning at about 2.45pm.
Crews extinguished the fire by 3.15pm, after 5% of the loft was alight.
Mother of triplets Susan Finch, 60, lives opposite the house that was hit.
She said: “There was smoke pouring out from the roof tiles.
“I ran back into the house and someone rang the fire service while I went across the road to see if anyone was inside.”
