Pensioner builds steel and concrete barrier to protect home from speeding cars

First published in News

A despairing pensioner who fears he will be killed by speeding cars crashing into his house has built a concrete-enforced steel barrier in his garden.

Owen Allan, 75, of Beaufort Gardens, Braintree, was “forced” to build the barrier, which is filled with several inches of concrete and covered in reflective signs, after suffering 13 cars crashing into his property from 20mph zone Marlborough Road.

Mr Allan has written to Essex Police and Essex Highways, appealing for them to install stricter traffic-calming measures near the tight bend in the road but was furious to hear nothing could be done.

Great!

Now let's see the feeble, shiny arsed, 'as much use as teets on a bull' mandarins who have done bugger all to help this guy dare to wheel out 'this' planning regulation and 'that' - and whatever else they can drag up in an attempt to say why he has to take it all out again.

Well done Owen! What a pity there aren't more people like you around who are prepared to grit their teeth and bloody well get on and do the job themselves.

Funny how the word 'Hero' is missing from the BWT title when it's actually relevant for once.

Let's not be too hard on the BWT pierre-pierre.

That picture depicts the scene as in June this year. That's pretty up to date in their eyes I expect.

Seen the pictures pierre-pierre. Very impressed.

I hope he managed to make them out of some odd bits of Explosive Reactive Armour.

Just a couple more bumps into one or two of them and the drongos who can't drive at a moderate speed down Marlborough Road would soon begin to get the message!
