Nearly 70 per cent of students at Helena Romanes School in Dunmow achieved A* to C grades.
The pass rate for the top scores was 67 per cent, while the overall pass rate for A* to E was 99.4 per cent.
High achievers included Emma Hargrave with an A* in biology, an A in chemistry and a B in psychology, Ruby Featherstone with an A* in law, A in business and a B in English literature and Callum Dove with A grades in sociology and English literature and a B grade in history.
Shalford boy Alex Williams, 15, achieved an A at AS-level for product design.
He said: “I want to become a mechanical engineer so product design is a hobby of mine.
“I’ve already designed a set of Bluetooth portable speakers which my mum uses every day and a remote controlled helicopter with cameras on.
“It’s good to get my qualifications out the way early.”
