With the return of the much-loved Great British Bake Off to BBC One, scores of readers sent in snaps of their colourful creations.
Presenters Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood should not rest on their laurels, we were inundated with cakes covered in glitter, rainbow colours and edible flowers.
Shoes, aliens, dogs and even dragons were all created out of cake, along with the various minions in tribute to the Despicable Me movies.
Wacky creations included Rapunzel in a fairytale scene, two people chilling in a swimming pool and a carousel.
Braintree and Witham Times readers could easily compete with last year’s Bake Off winner Frances Quinn and her three tier wedding cake, complete with edible confetti.
