A man has been taken to hospital with life changing injuries following a chemical incident.

The air ambulance attended the scene in Bramble Road, Witham, but the man was taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance with injuries that are not thought to be life threatening but might be life changing.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were notified by the ambulance service at 10.45 today that a man had suffered injuries at an address in Bramble Road.

"Officers attended to find that the man had suffered injuries to his hands and face caused by the use of a harmful liquid."

Police have cordoned off an area of the road while they carry out further examinations.

Six fire crews also attended the incident.
