ASDA is no longer progressing with building a store at Braintree Freeport after the supermarket giant fell out of favour with the council last year, it is understood.
In September 2012, the superstore and Freeport unveiled plans to open a 30,000sq ft shop and a petrol station next to the outlet shopping centre.
It was expected to create 300 jobs, and 95 per cent of people who attended a three day public exhibition supported the plans.
