A pensioner has helped brighten up a youth hostel in Witham by donating benches, picnic tables and garden furniture.

Bramble Court, in Bramble Road, have launched a garden project to make the centre a more pleasant place to live for the 22 tenants, who are aged 16- 25 year old.

Many of whom have suffered from family fall outs and relationship break-ups and have nowhere else to live.

Eighty-year-old Diana McNee, of Maldon Road, Witham, decided to help out after visiting the hostel last year with the United Reformed Church and became so impressed with the work they do.
