A woman inspired by her own weight loss has started a club for anyone wanting to lose weight.

Melanie Hopkins started the free club with some of her friends, Vicky Lane and Kimberly Ogan earlier this year.

Melanie said: “In June 2013 I weighed 21st 10lbs and wore a size 24 and I realised that I had got to the point where I didn't want to be that size anymore. I didn't want my son going to school with a mum that size.”

After a year, she had lost 108lbs taking her to 14st, which she said made her feel amazing and inspired her to start the club.

“Fitclub is for anyone who wants to lose some weight. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in.”

The group meets every Thursday at the old recreation ground off of Coggeshall Road from 11am until 12 noon.
