These striking images give a glimpse into life for Braintree residents during the First World War.

They are among the memorabilia featured in a new exhibition at Braintree District Museum, called Braintre District at War: 1914-1918.

Explore the uniform and weaponry display and try on a Brodie helmet, find out how Braintree’s industries contributed to the war effort and learn more about the impact of the war on Braintree’s home front.

It runs until December 19.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Normal museum admission charges apply.

The museum is a member of the First World War centenary partnership led by the Imperial War Museum.
