A train carriage converted into a railway museum was officially opened at the old Rayne train station on Friday, July 25.

The renovation work on the carriage was completed by charity group Friends of the Flitch Way.

Stan Davies, of the Friends, said: “What we have done is convert half the carriage into a local museum, it has got a model of Rayne station and a model railway.

“It is free to use and it has always been our intention that it’s going to be a community asset.”

The carriage, which has been left with half its original seating, was delivered to the site in October 2013.
