Essex needs almost 800 or more pitches

First published in News by , Reporter

An extra 40 traveller pitches are needed in the district after experts predicted demand will almost double over the next two decades.

There is already demand for 29 pitches but only enough space for 21, according to a new report from the Essex Planning Officers Association, which represents 14 councils.

The report says 61 pitches will be needed by the year 2033.

There are a number of unofficial traveller sites in the district but only two official sites, including Sandiacres, Cressing, which has 12 pitches and opened in 1989.

In total, Essex needs almost 800 more pitches, with the majority in the south of the county and close to London.

Would that be a form of Ethnic Cleansing you are advocating Bhudeeka?

Once we achieved a Mission Accomplished stage on 'Travellers' what or who would be next on your list fro extirpation?

(Please don't mention me - I know that's 'no brainer' to begin with).

But would it not be wiser to have sites for them to move on to ?? After all if you just kick them of one pach of land they will then just move on to another .
I don't totally agree with the way sites have to be put in place to meet the needs of travellers by law .but (IMO) it's better for the children .ie a bit of schooling stability and the police and other services know where thay are .
The Sandiacres, Cressing send to workwell !!

How heartening to hear the pragmatic voice of reason for once!

Such a refreshing change from the vicious, vitriolic unforgiving diatribe that spews forth upon us from some mindless quarters each time this subject crops up.

Just look at the vehicles leaving Twin Oaks! They be very rich folks! Seriously I think we have enough sites to last for years as many move to large houses eventually.

Now that you coan check the insurance and MoT status of a car online, it would be interesting to run these vehicles through.
