A solar farm larger than 14 football pitches and comprising 92,000 solar panels could be built opposite an ancient landmark.
The 38 hectare proposed site on land south of Sheepcote Wood in Witham Road has been earmarked by Esco NRG for 85 rows of 2.7m high photovoltaic panels.
A public consultation was held in White Notley Village hall on July 24 to set out plans for the farm, which were met with mixed reactions from neighbours.
A spokesman for Esco NRG described the site, which is bordered by Witham Road and Station Road, as “visually unobtrusive” and says extra planting will make it “barely visible from the surrounding area”, including from the ancient Temple barns.
